Our client is one of the world's leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals and mining industries. They currently have 4 offices in the UK, and employ around 500 people. Our client are looking for a Blast Furnace Technologist to provide operational technical support to all blast furnace ironmaking activities in their North East offices. Working within the clients Process Engineering team the successful candidate will act as Lead Process Engineer for major projects, and support site based commissioning teams.

As Blast Furnace Technologist, the successful candidate will provide background information on the blast furnace process to all disciplines within the North East office. This knowledge will be further utilised in answering queries from clients and taking part in performance study investigations. As the company develops new products, it is expected that the candidate will take a leading role in defining the requirements of the finished unit. The overall aim of this role is to provide enhanced operational knowledge on the blast furnace process whilst at the same time understanding the engineering design process and methodologies.

Applicants should hold a Degree or equivalent in Metallurgy or Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, and have significant experience of blast furnace operation and/or design; applications from candidates with experience in a Blast Furnace Manager role are particularly welcome. This role will form part of the Senior Management Team within the North East office, and experience of acting in a similar capacity would be extremely beneficial.
