Civil / Structural Design Engineer

Rate �40.00 to �45.00 per hour
Located in Cumbria

The purpose of the role is to provide efficient and cost effective engineering support to the Cumbrian based office.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
HND (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural design engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with design components
Engineering Council Registered Engineer
Experienced in Civil and structural design within the thermal power industry, or wider experience within the oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear or other heavy industries.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Knowledge and understanding of BS 5950, BS 8110 and related standards.
Effective application of product codes and standards
Knowledge of STAAD or similar steelwork design tools advantageous
Effective communications skills
Effective report writing
Effective document management
PC skills
KEY DUTIES
Conduct detailed design work on steel structures.
Conduct verification of subcontractor design work, such as calculations, computer models and drawings.
Estimation of bills of quantities and site surveys in response to client enquiries.
Work with Branch and HQ engineers, site installation and proposal teams from client enquiry through to project implementation regarding mechanical design aspects.
