As a leading environmental engineering business our client develops and delivers solutions and services to a wide client base in the United Kingdom and across the world. They employ in the region of 3,000 people in over 30 countries.

Job Description
Our client requires a Commercial Manager to provide contractual and commercial support to the Board and Senior Management team. The role will encompass financial and commercial reviewing, approving and reporting for the business as a whole. The role will also cover bid preparation through to contract handover / final account.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

1. Tender appraisal:
Advise on winning bid strategies
Advise on contract terms and conditions
Assessing mechanism for payments (actual cost, quoted rates, contract price fluctuation)
Reviewing payment terms
Understanding and advising on contract change mechanisms (variations)
Identifying contractual risks for management throughout the contract
Establishing pricing models with the assistance of the finance department and Directors to include;CTE, MF, Overheads, Selling Rate, Equipment costs

2. Contract delivery:
Development of commercial reports
Preparation and submission of timely applications for payment
Ensure profitability of contracts
Ensure recovery of rate increases due to legislation / other matters outside on normal annual increases.
Change Management � Variations
Ensure consistent approach to pricing and submission of variations
Compliance with contract time scales for notification and pricing of variations
Negotiation and agreement of variations
Ensure best recovery (e.g. mileage rates / assumptions for vehicles)
Production and agreement of final accounts

3. Commercial control and management reporting:
Development of commercial reports
Prepare and negotiate annual rate increases
Financial Reporting � weekly and monthly reviews and cost control / forecasting.
Review of utilisation efficiencies to achieve best recovery.
Ensure positive management of cash
Develop of staff

Qualifications/Education
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Member of (or studying towards) an appropriate recognised professional institution

Experience/Knowledge
Building / Civil Engineering / Water background with an appreciation of M&E contracts
Proven track record as a Commercial Manager in a similar role
Sound understanding of contractual, financial and quality surveying skills

Key Skills
Good general management and man management
Good commercial and contractual awareness
Good leadership and team building
Negotiation, delegation and presentation skills are also advantageous
Must be capable of stand alone work without a team if needed
