Our client is a leading consultancy in the assessment and management of safety and environmental risks. They currently have a vacancy for a Technical Consultant to be located initially in a client�s office in Germany for a 12 month period and then to return to one of their UK offices.

The role will involve working as part of a team supporting safety assessment work for nuclear reactors. The role includes working on safety assessment production, & other technical inputs, to safety cases and safety documentation for a range of facilities. This will involve report-writing for a number of operators, regulators and industry stakeholders and reviewing work for technical accuracy. You will be writing technical proposals including establishing schedules and budgets for projects or tasks within projects, communicating with and managing project team members, revising the scope of work, approach, schedules and budgets as required and monitoring project spend; maintaining quality, managing changing priorities and working to challenging timescales. Overall you will ensure that clients are properly satisfied and the Company's good reputation is maintained.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in engineering or scientific subject, coupled with a recognised qualification and professional membership of an appropriate body. You will have worked on assessing the safety of existing facilities or new projects and preparing probabilistic safety assessments, and awareness of the requirements for satisfying industry regulators. You will have skills in some of the following areas: - Hazard Identification, Risk Analysis (Quantitative & Qualitative QRA), Fault Tree, FMEA, ALARP, use of engineering substantiation in safety justification, control and instrumentation, waste management assessment. Experience of managing project and staff resources to ensure commitments are delivered to the required time, cost and technical standard would also be an advantage.
