Job Title - Technical Director of Hydrogeological and Geological Services
Salary - Negotiable
Location - Warwickshire

Job purpose
To provide support to the department and other departments within the company and to undertake responsibility for specific project performance and control including project procurement.

Key accountabilities

To be responsible for the technical quality and the development of the above service. To provide direction and support to consultants in the management and undertaking of the above service.
The position of Technical Director is a recognition of the experience and technical expertise of the consultant.
As a key member of the company you will be expected to play a proactive role in company performance and management and development of new business opportunities for strategic growth and development of the company.
To represent the company at business events and promote the company�s services and interests.
To provide technical input to the Hydrogeology/Geology department through assessment of risks and liabilities associated with contaminated land for a variety of purposes including pre-acquisition due diligence and insurance, assessment of contamination in soil, groundwater and surface water and carry out groundwater risk assessments prior to the development of landfill sites and mineral extractions.
To carry out quality procedures in accordance with the quality system.
Liaise with clients and regulatory authorities during projects.
Control the quality, progress and costs of projects
Preparation of letters, reports or other written work as required by the Company.
Oversee workload for the Hydrogeology/Geology department.
Line management responsibilities to include timely completion of review meetings, annual appraisals, support in completion of individual CPD records, provide training , direction and support to the department as necessary, authorisation of annual leave and salary reviews for staff.
Assess the risks and liabilities associated with environmental contamination for a variety of purposes including pre-acquisition due diligence and insurance.
Timely preparation of invoices to clients and chasing settlement when appropriate.
Proofing responsibilities in compliance with the QA system as appropriate.
Responsibility for the HR recruitment plan for staff and to play a proactive part in the recruitment and selection of staff in liaison with the personnel department and the finance manager.
Weekly check of timesheets for departmental staff.
To undertake responsibility for project performance and control including research and development work. To work as necessary as part of project teams.
To undertake a range of duties arising out of the overall workload of the Company.

Skills, knowledge and experience:

Minimum BSc qualification
Previous extensive experience in a similar role
Previous experience of working with Quality Management Systems
Chartered Geologist would be desirable
Computer skills in Word, Excel, and geological and hydrogeological models are essential
Commitment to high standards
Highly motivated
Good administrative and organisational skills
Ability to prioritise workloads
Driving licence
Experience of Project management, budgeting & financial control is essential
High standards of written work
