Job Overview
The Compliance and Engineering Services Department provides certification, classification and verification services to the oil and gas industry. These services provide evidence of conformity with: regulatory requirements (certification); our clients Rules (classification), and duty holder�s schemes (verification).

Reason for position
We require a Senior Surveyor in Charge to provide day to day management to deliver an effective commercial service through a dept/office and to assess complex problems for external clients where the parameters are not well defined and to determine solutions where experience does not provide any precedent.
There may be a requirement to travel both offshore and overseas, sometimes at short notice.

Main Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance Operations the role will involve:
Surveying equipment and systems on fixed and floating offshore installations, against the requirements of the Safety Case and supporting Regulations.
Surveying equipment at manufacturer�s works for both verification and certification requirements.
Understanding and interpreting offshore legislation applicable to the oil and gas industry in the UK and elsewhere.
Preparing performance standards and written schemes of examination.
Providing good control of projects, including communicating with clients, financial control and timely and accurate reporting.
Providing proactive leadership and mentoring to surveyors within the CESD Operations Group.
Contributing to the management of the CESD Operations Group.
Provide technical assistance/advice as requested to O&G surveyors in other operating regions.

Skills / Educational Requirements for position
You will hold an Engineering Degree and have experience of class, statutory, verification and industrial surveys. You should also have a working knowledge of International Codes and Standards applicable to the O&G industry.
Technically strong, you will have good communication skills and a willingness to find solutions as well as problems. The role will require confidence in making decisions, sometimes under pressure and an understanding of the commercial aspects of your work.
