NES: supporting the process industry

Where to start…? It’s been a while since you heard from NES Process, as we’ve redesigned the newsletter to take on the appearance of our new web site – please go and explore the site as soon as you get chance!

While the newsletter looks a lot different to the ones you’ve been receiving over the past two years, they’ll still include updates, features and jobs, just like before.

This issue contains a company overview of Siemens VAI as well as the next article in our career management series and a look at our new web site’s Global Candidate Pipeline (GCP) section. Of course, a selection of our latest jobs is also included. The new web site system now allows for vacancies to be dynamically displayed, meaning that each time you view this newsletter, the very latest process vacancies will be displayed.

It’s been a really exciting start to the year for the process team. We’ve seen a huge increase in permanent vacancies and the market is showing particular promise within the water industry as we enter year four of AMP4, when site based commissioning work is expected to become abundant.

Our work with international candidates, where we have provided highly skilled non-EU applicants with assistance when acquiring working authorisation, has helped considerably in helping us to address the skills shortages in the UK, with the process industry in particular benefiting from this part of the business.

Elsewhere, we have been supporting students and graduates through our sponsorship of the Frank Morton Games, the prestigious chemical engineering sports day that began when UMIST’s Professor Frank Morton initiated a football match between the chemical engineering departments of UMIST and the University of Birmingham.

Backed by a variety individuals and organisations including the IChemE, the National Chemical Engineering Student Council and The University of Leeds, the NES process team were present at both the Manchester and Leeds venues during the two-day event to provide career management advice to students and graduates.

I’d like to finish by introducing you to the latest additions to our team: Thomas Brunt and Richard Feingold, who have been appointed to help us meet increasing client demand. Thomas and Richard have both gained considerable experience within the technical and engineering recruitment industry and I have every confidence that they’ll become invaluable as the company expands.

Lee Knowles,
Director NES UK.
