Operations & Maintenance personnel can work on many stages of a project lifecycle, through concept selection, FEED, construction, and commissioning and start up , but their main workscope exists once the project has reached operational stage.
Operations & Maintenance personnel help ensure that a project delivers on its original promises by working alongside project management, construction and commissioning personnel throughout the construction of a plant before the project moves into long term operations. Typical responsibilities at this stage can include: assisting in designing and implementing cost-effective equipment; solving complex problems; project management; using research, analytical and planning skills and; considering cost, safety and time constraints of a project. However, it is once the project moves into operational stage that Operations & Maintenance personnel come into their by effectively managing Operations & Maintenance contracts to ensure the operability and durability are maximised as much as possible.
