Engineers and their families are being offered assistance and expert advice for working in high risk locations following the launch of an integrated security and incident management support service by specialist recruitment firm, NES.
Providing access to a 24-hour number, available 365 days a year, gives contractors and their relatives a single point of contact in the event of an emergency situation.
“The kidnap of another Briton by gunmen in Nigeria at the weekend highlights the risk that oil and gas engineers are exposed to on a daily basis when working in countries such as Iraq, Nigeria and Angola,” says Nick Stocker, risk manager at NES.
“The enhancement of sub-contractor security is the primary purpose of this initiative, which is why NES supplements its cost,” Nick continues. “We hope that it will become second-nature for our contractors to rely on the 24-hour NES Security Support service.
“Of course, it isn’t just about the engineers themselves in these situations. Their families appreciate having access to information in the event of a kidnap, country evacuation or similar incident and having the reassurance that they know who to call can help to reduce levels of anxiety faced by everyone involved,” Nick concludes.
The NES Security Support number is: +44 207 939 8674.
